The Inter-Ministry Invasive Species Working Group (IMISWG)

The Inter-Ministry Invasive Species Working Group (IMISWG) provides policy direction, coordination, and collaborative delivery of provincial invasive species programs for the Province of British Columbia. The IMISWG brings together provincial ministries and agencies with invasive species management responsibilities to manage invasive species through a cross-government approach.

Membership

The IMISWG consists of representatives from the following ministries:

Regular Members—Representatives from ministries/commissions that regularly participate in the ongoing business of the IMISWG:

  • Ministry of Agriculture
  • Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy
  • Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development
  • Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure
  • Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources
  • Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing
  • The Royal British Columbia Museum

Associate Members—Representatives from other ministries/commissions that will be asked to participate as needed from time to time:

  • Ministry of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation
  • Ministry of Education
  • BC Oil & Gas Commission
  • Provincial Agricultural Land Commission

The IMISWG reaches important stakeholders and partners, including the following:

  • federal agencies
  • local governments
  • Indigenous peoples
  • non-profit organizations
  • neighbouring jurisdictions in the US and Canada
